Our Story
Headwaters Outdoor Education Ministry was born out of a simple but powerful conviction that every young person, no matter their circumstances, deserves a chance to grow.
We saw youth in difficult situations and felt called to do something about it. Rather than a traditional classroom or program, we turned to what we know best: God and the outdoors. What started as a desire to walk alongside struggling youth has grown into a full ministry dedicated to guiding young men and women out of hardship and into hope.
At Headwaters, we believe that nature has a way of stripping away distractions and opening hearts, and that God meets us there. Through that foundation, we help youth not just survive their circumstances, but grow through them into strong, confident young adults ready to face the world.

Our Mission
Every young person deserves a chance to feel capable, connected, and valued—but not every child gets that opportunity. At Headwaters Outreach, we work with at-risk youth who may be struggling to find direction, confidence, or a sense of belonging. Through meaningful outdoor experiences, we help them step away from daily challenges and discover what they’re truly capable of, all while helping them discover the importance of God in their lives.
Our Vision
Headwaters Outdoor Education Program Ministry exists to transform the lives of young men and women by guiding them into a deep, personal relationship with God through mentorship, discipleship, and outdoor adventure.
Our vision is to create a space where youth can experience the power of God’s creation, learn essential life skills, and develop the resilience needed to walk boldly in their faith.
More Than An Adventure
Our programs take youth into the outdoors, where they can grow in ways that aren’t always possible in everyday life. Whether it’s hiking new terrain, learning to fish, or practicing outdoor survival skills, each experience is designed to build confidence, resilience, and teamwork. These aren’t just trips—they are meaningful moments that open the door to spiritual growth, self-discovery, and a deeper foundation in Christ. As they step outside their comfort zones, young people begin to develop new skills and see their potential in a new light.

Through consistent mentorship, immersive outdoor experiences, and biblical teaching, we equip youth with the wisdom, strength, and faith needed to navigate life’s challenges.

Bear Trap Ranch
Many of these experiences take place at Bear Trap Ranch, a beautiful outdoor setting that gives youth a safe and inspiring place to learn, grow, and explore. Surrounded by nature, participants stay in cabins and take part in hands-on activities like archery, fishing, hiking, and even unique experiences like falconry.

These moments are more than just fun—they create lasting memories, build confidence, and give youth a sense of accomplishment that stays with them long after they leave. For many, it’s the first time they’ve had the chance to fully unplug, connect with others, and experience the outdoors in a meaningful way.
